Directing My Dancers/Directing Myself

Posted Thursday, July 14, 2011 - 12:45pm

Thanks to The Pew Center of Arts & Heritage through Dance Advance, Nichole will be engaging in a year-long process of choreographic research with Wendy Houstoun (formerly of DV8) acting as a mentor.  The process includes a visit to London as well as rehearsals in Philadelphia with a group of dancers.   In order to share this experience with NCDC’s audiences, Nichole will be keeping a blog filled with thoughts, musing, pictures, and videos about the process.

Knight Foundation Award

Posted Tuesday, May 24, 2011 - 9:56am

We are honored and humbled to announce that NCDC has received a John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Award, as part of its Knight Arts Challenge.  This matching grant award helps us to mark the beginning of a two-year creative process that will result in a new immersive event: The Garden, a performance installation inspired by Italo Calvino’s novel Invisible Cities.

Please stay tuned for more information about the creative process and how we will be inviting you to be a part of it.

For the full press release of all Knight Foundation recipients and the Foundation’s mission, please visit their website here.

About NCDC

Nichole Canuso Dance Company (NCDC) creates dances that celebrate the awkwardness, humor and surprise in human experience. Using subtle gesture, explosive movement, clowning, unconventional audience participation and interactive design, NCDC focuses on developing fully investigated and legible hybrid dance projects. These works exist at the crossroads of movement, visual art and theater.
